Dan Whitfield started this petition to Arkansas Secretary of State John Thurston and

An independent candidate needs 10,000 signatures during the fixed period of February 1 - May 1 in order to obtain ballot access. On March 13, 2020 Governor Asa Hutchinson issued orders of the state to declare a state of emergency due to COVID-19. These orders of the state severely burdened Dan Whitfield's campaigns ability to collect signatures do to social distancing and the banning of large gatherings. We are currently in a lawsuit for ballot access and the Attorney General is trying to delay the hearing as long as possible by blocking our expedites.

When the Governor and Secretary of State received a request to reduce the amount of signatures required, extend the deadline, or allow digital petitioning, the request was ignored. The Secretary of State claims he did not have the authority to grant relief.

Arkansans deserve to have another option to run against Tom Cotton, especially after the GOP blackmailed the democrat out of the race AFTER the filing deadline.

For an independent to gain ballot access to run for president in Arkansas, they only need 1,000 signatures, have an August 3 deadline, and do not have a fixed collection window.

Why is it more difficult to run for US Senate than it is for President of the United States?

Please sign this petition to show support for Dan Whitfield's bid to unseat and replace Tom Cotton. Arkansans deserve to have a choice!

(Governor Asa Hutchinson, Secretary of State John Thurston, and the Attorney General Leslie Rutldge have all taken money from Tom Cotton and are now using their elected positions to help him suppress the ballot.)
