Make The Lower Thames Crossing Free for Medway residents and businesses

The Government are planning to introduce a toll charge for all vehicles using the proposed Lower Thames Crossing.

If the proposed crossing between Kent and Essex is given the go-ahead, a local resident discount scheme will operate for residents living in Gravesend and surrounding villages.

But the people of Medway will be excluded from the scheme, which isn’t fair on local businesses or local residents.

Medway is located really close to the proposed crossing. This means Medway residents and businesses will use the crossing frequently, particularly for daily work commutes and transporting goods.

So we are calling on Highways England to allow Medway residents and businesses to be fully exempt from the proposed toll charges.
