The disproportionate increase in the energy price cap will force millions of hard working honest people into hardship, whilst the energy companies continue to make massive profits.

The government must step in to stop these unjust and disproportionate rises in prices. Raising unit costs reflects the world wide energy price rises. Increasing standing charges in most cases to more than double their current daily rate is completely unjustified, and is just adding to the already massive profits made by the utility companies.

This petition demands that the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change of the United Kingdom debates this issue as a matter of urgency in Parliament. The outcome being that the UK government takes control of and reinstates the energy price cap at a level that will protect people from hardship.
