Youth involvement in politics is vital, and to encourage involvement there needs to be knowledge that young people can use to become engaged in politics as they reach the age they can legally participate in elections and referendums. An hour a week of political education which could explain the role of the Houses of Parliament, the different parties and the general knowledge needed to understand current affairs, would encourage young people to not only to speak out on issues they find important but also take part in and understand debates they may have not felt the importance of before. Furthermore a subject that is not examined but simply useful is necessary for creating a variation in the national curriculum. Producing politically active generations that believe and and understand the values of democracy is important, not only today but also in the future. Please help this happen by signing the petition.
