Sirius Minerals' polyhalite project in North Yorkshire and Teesside is a £3.2 billion capital investment that will generate £100 billion for the UK economy over the next fifty years. The Project will increase economic output, boost regional growth, increase exports, drive productivity and reduce the trade deficit, helping to address the UK’s ambitions and challenges as it leaves the European Union.

This area has the worlds largest resource of polyhalite organic mineral fertilizer that will be in massive demand by the agricultural industry world wide.  Not only is it environmentally safe but it produces better results than any other fertilizer.

A major 10 year supply and distribution agreement signed with Muntajat, a state-owned Qatari company, for the sale and distribution of over 2 million tonnes p/a of POLY4 into Africa, Australia, New Zealand and some Middle-Eastern and Asian territories.  The market potential for this product has been put at over 100 billion pounds to the uk economy over the next fifty years.

Sadly due to unfavourable recent market conditions Sirius has failed to to gain the further investment funding required to enable it to progress to the next stage of construction and has had to reschedule the extraction phase for its product.

Consequently the share price has tumbled to an all time low and Anglo American mining company have made an offer of around 5.5 pence per share  in a total take over of Sirius.  This vastly undervalues the true asset value of this company and its assets in the local area of Yorkshire.

We believe that in the interest of the UK economy and the Northern regions of interest in particular, that the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy should intervene to prevent this company being sold off cheaply to a foreign buyer.
