Ask the government to free detainee Tony Kim from North Korea
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
On April 22, 2017, Sang-duk (Tony) Kim, a professor at Pyongyang University of Science and Technology, was detained at Pyongyang International Airport for supposedly helping with an aid and relief program in North Korea. However, North Korean officials have not released an official statement as to why Tony Kim was detained. The United States should act upon this issue and persuade North Korea to free Mr. Kim. If the government succeeds in taking action, people will gain a sense of security. Also, it would show that the president cares for his citizens.
Tony Kim is an innocent American citizen who was unreasonably detained by North Korea. If he had only been helping North Korean citizens, he should not have been considered to be going against the laws of North Korea. In the past, when people were released from North Korean detainment, they were in a terrible condition, and it would be unjust to let this happen to Tony Kim.
We want the government to take action and negotiate for Tony Kim's release. Every day that the government delays, Tony Kim will continue to suffer. It is imperative that we intervene quickly.
