Reform How African and Black History is Taught in Schools
Reform How African and Black History is Taught in Schools
Only 8 states in the United States require black history to be included in history classes.
It has been scientifically proven that students that learn about other cultures have less racial bias towards those groups of people. Furthermore, students who learn about their own background in school tend to feel more connected to their history, and more connected to their peers.
African heritage and culture deserves to be respected in the same way European and White heritage is. Not only for the betterment of education, but for the betterment of black youth in America.
It’s time that we recognize African culture and history as more than just slavery and oppression.
