Rule for crediting authenticity to social media posts

How many times we have received messages on whatsapp, Fackebook and other social platforms which claims of unbelievable facts. Above two links are just a reference to many such idiotic forwards which does not have any base.
Although a good source of harmless fun for Millennial generation, for new adopters of social media who trust everything they see , such post has caused havoc many times.
Mob killing of 7 people in Jharkhand highlights one such instance. Its a shame for a society which boasts of "secularism" and "innocent till guilty" to kill people just on receiving a forwarded message without checking its authenticity.
Looking at this situation practically, its impossible to teach every one using social media self control and application of mind before sharing anything on social media. At times such posts are shared intentionally to create unrest among the masses to take their mind off from the real issues.
To curb this issue and ensure no more innocent lives are lost without any cause following rules (not exhaustive) need to be implemented by the regulation authorities and the creators of the these social media platforms.
- Any post shared on Facebook, whatsapp or any other such social media platform should always show in bold the creator of post. This will ensure in tracing back the orignal post holder.
- Anybody who creates a fake post and/or shares a fake post will be held equally responsible for causing any unrest or damage associated with the fake post. This will ensure anybody sharing a post will take care of due dilligence.
- Severe financial and hardship penalty should be imposed on fake post creators and sharers.
This is my request to all people to take notice of this issue when its still in nascent stage. Let us not wait for a massive scale disaster and then act upon it.
BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO BE.
