Most, if not all students attending OJHS have heard the news about no longer allowing the use of string backpacks and phones. I must say, I do find it reasonable to implement the removal of phones as they do cause a great deal of distraction. However, while phones mainly serve the purpose of entertainment and social networking (which can cause some problems as said before), backpacks are in no way a source of distraction.

Backpacks here are used to carry school supplies, books, binders, and/or other essentials for personal/educational use. From personal experience as a student, I don’t believe there have been any major problems regarding string backpacks. In fact, all they have ever done is help us! If string backpacks are forever banned in our school, our lives would be harder. We would have to sprint to our lockers to get what we need; we might forget something, lose something, or trip from running and also making sure to get to class on time. Many students’ lockers are on the other side of the school to where their classes are. All of this seems inefficient and just a burden to us.

You all have already taken away normal backpacks, at least show some mercy and let us keep our string backpacks. Please take this in consideration! — If you support this argument, it would be greatly appreciated if you sign the petition and share it!
