Lolo Mongwe started this petition to Sebokeng Hospital Management

This pettition pertains the living conditions of medical interns at the nurses home at the Sebokeng Hospital.

The nurses home at the sebokeng hospital is a poor representation of accomodation/living conditions as stipulated in the HPCSA internship booklet for medical interns.

1. As stipulated in the HPCSA guidelines only two people are allowed to share communal spaces however at the moment 8 people are sharing.

There is a signal problem which impacts significantly on the functionality of the hospital.

Basical health and safety standards are not adhered to as bathrooms are unsanitary

The manner in which the kitchen has been designed pose danger to food security.

The corridors are unsafe, there is no adequate lighting.

The absence of ensuite bathrooms in the units occupied pose safety risk as one needs embark on a journey to the other wing in order to relieve themselves.

Some sharing units share one light switch for the entire unit and have a single socket. Thus extensions and multi plugs needs to be shared. A consensus need to be reached for lights to go off.

The shared compounds have been partitioned in such a manner that the size of the other a room is a size if a match box with no window and thus poor ventilation.

Acceptable and feasible solutions to the above are, but not limited to:

1. To halt renovations at current DQ's in Kopanong in order for medical interns to occupy these.

- Renovations can resume once adequate accommodation can be provided.

2. The hospital to procure external accommodation and subsidize medical interns to live in the chosen acceptable property.
