Seattle University Paper Towel Composting
This petition made change with 472 supporters!
Every year Seattle University sends about 31 tons of trash to the landfill from bathrooms alone.
Recently the Recycling Department found the university produces 1,365 lbs of garbage in public bathrooms on campus every week.
Almost all of that bathroom waste could be composted.
Compostable paper towels make up 96% of bathroom waste.
Students, staff, and faculty care about compost.
With a goal to divert 80% of waste from the landfill by 2020, we expect compostable items to actually be composted.
As a campus community we can work together to ensure paper towels get to the compost, where they belong.
Paper towels come from trees. Let’s stop, rethink, and send them back to the earth.
