Frank D'Andrea started this petition to Denise Juneau Seattle Public Schools and

Seattle Public Schools (SPS) periodically evaluates the space at the public schools to ensure sufficient space for K-12 education. There is continued emphasis on using all spaces within buildings for the primary purpose of K-12 instruction, which may result in displacement of support activities like LASER after-school childcare.

SPS is evaluating the space needs at Bryant, and have identified LASER’s main room and office space for potential use in fall 2020. Losing this space would affect the program and capacity, and may result in discontinuation of care for a number of students. LASER after-school childcare already has 40 kids on the waitlist for whom they are not able to provide care due to lack of space. In addition, losing office space would considerably affect operations, since there are 5 full time staff at Bryant who run the program and use our current office space. This change could also impact our budget and staffing.

Show your support for LASER after-school care by signing this petition. SPS needs MORE - not LESS - after-school childcare options.
