This petition is to voice our concerns over the deteriorating conditions of the City of Seattle due to rising numbers of homelessness, open drug use & overall crime. We have an ineffective local government with no sense of urgency to come up with real solutions to fix these issues! The city is full of repeat criminal offenders, homeless people making their homes on any given piece of Seattle property as well as along I-5 corridor through the city of Seattle & King County, rampant drug use many of which is out in the open! We have many local businesses having no other option but to close down shop or relocate to other cities due to the high levels of crime & the city government not supporting our police department in prosecuting all crimes. As stated in a recent tweet by Seattle police chief Carmen Best, we have an ineffective local government including prosecutor & courts not taking crime seriously which is leading to low morale by those within the police department. Officers are either unable to enforce crime or arresting those who commit crimes only to see them back out on the streets to repeat offend. No wonder the department is having difficulties hiring, who wants to come work for Seattle PD when they have no support behind them from the city council to the mayor’s office, to the local justice system which isn’t doing enough to penalize criminals! We have a county prosecutor & city attorney that think not prosecuting crimes will somehow lower crime and prevent repeat offenders. Property crime on not only local businesses but people’s homes and vehicles is an on going issue in all neighborhoods throughout our city & it’s only gotten worse. Tourist are not feeling safe visiting our city any longer, people are choosing to hold conventions in different cities where they feel their attendees will be safer. It’s time our local “leadership” quit talking about making things better yet doing nothing or choosing ineffective options that continue to fail time & time again, quit avoiding the media as well! If you are fed up & feel ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, make your voices heard loud & clear by signing this petition, POWER IS IN NUMBERS! LET’S DRAW SOME MORE ATTENTION TO THIS INEFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP WE HAVE, SHOW THE LEADERS WE ARE FED UP! Let’s get the media’s attention! Let’s take back our great city and make it the beautiful emerald city we have always known, loved and took pride in residing and/or working in! Residents, employees and even tourist are encouraged to sign this petition. We can vote to make our voices heard but until then let’s speak up & put pressure on our local government officials & justice system to fix our city!!!
