Seattle Mayor Ed Murray should go on administrative leave while under investigation

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray has been accused of sexually abusing a troubled teen in the 1980s and is currently under investigation. http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/lawsuit-alleges-seattle-mayor-ed-murray-sexually-abused-troubled-teen-in-1980s/

This allegation is not proven in court and the mayor has decided to fight it.
We ask the Seattle city council to demand that Mayor Murray go on administrative leave while this accusation is under investigation.

Why are we demanding this?

1. As described in the Seattle City official personnel rules guide at https://www.seattle.gov/personnel/resources/pubs/rules/Personnel_Rules_1.0_.pdf , Mayor Murray should be asked to go on an administrative leave.

“Administrative reassignment” means paid leave status which an appointing
authority may authorize for any City officer or employee in his or her department or office, when such employee is the cause of or subject of, or otherwise significantly affected by an active official investigatory process related to alleged violations of personnel rules, policies of the City and/or City Department, City ordinances, or state or federal laws and/or an investigation intended to determine the employee’s fitness for duty. Administrative reassignment shall not be considered discipline.

2. Putting mayor Murray on administrative leave is consistent with Seattle's values and consistent with similar restrictions imposed on public officials while under investigations.

The Seattle city council's decision to not comment and stay mute on a serious allegation against a public official who holds the highest office in our city government is not only inconsistent with policy and historical precedents but also diminishes the legitimacy of the accusations made by the 2 men who have made the accusation

We ask the Seattle city council to immediately demand that mayor Ed Murray step down and go on administrative leave while this decision is pending.
