Leo's Hope started this petition to SEARHC

“It’s about saving lives,” says Leo Jimmy, founder of Leo’s Hope: a grassroots community organization dedicated to bringing a 3.5 residential treatment level of care back to Sitka. Leo has been sober for 8 years and lost his wife to alcoholism in 2017. Many families in our community have been touched by similar stories.

Sitka’s diverse community has an urgent need for a 3.5 intensive residential treatment facility, which was closed in 2013. Help save lives by encouraging SEARHC to reinstate a family centered and community based 3.5 treatment facility in Sitka as a SE regional treatment facility.

Leo’s Hope is a grassroots workgroup made up of community members with diverse backgrounds who believe there is an urgent need for a SE Alaska Regional residential treatment facility to be located in Sitka. Leo’s Hope is recommending services similar to those that were previously offered by SEARHC's Bill Brady Healing Center which was closed in 2013. The closing of this highly effective program left a significant statewide gap for individuals seeking treatment and many SE Alaska residents have had to seek services outside of Alaska.
