Seafield Tidy Towns started this petition to Seafield Commonage

Substantial funding of approx €65,000 has been granted for improvements to be made to the Car Parking facilities at Seafield Beach. However, a small minority of the Commonage Tenants have so far refused to give permission to Clare County Council to carry out the work. The area for the proposed improvements is located immediately before the pier, where cars already park in the space provided specifically for car parking. In the proposed plans there would be car parking provided for disabled drivers/passengers as well as another 30 extra spaces (approx) as well as upgrading the adjoining roadway. Unfortunately, if the money is not spent in the next few months it will be lost to the locality and returned to the Government Department in Dublin to be spent elsewhere in the country instead. It would be an absolute tragedy if this money was lost to Seafield as it has already fallen far behind all other beaches in terms of facilities and amenities. In the long term, Seafield needs toilet facilities, rubbish bins, road resurfacing and footpaths as a minimum, this funding would only be a start of what is necessary in order to bring the whole area up to speed and now the whole community and beyond needs to come together as one and plead with these few tenants to agree to the proposed works.
