I was recently visiting horsey gap beach with family to get a glimpse of the seals who call the beach home. Whilst standing at a safe distance not to disturb these incredible animals they where suddenly attacked by a staffie breed dog. The owners had decided to ignore the signs dotted up and down the beach to keep dogs on a lead and allowed their animals to run off free. This ended with a young pup being attacked and badly bitten. Luckily the actions of my family resulted in the dog being secured and the pup rescued from its teeth. Much to my disgust if you look on local news this is a common occurrence and nothing is being done to protect the seals. These seals have been using this stretch of norfolk beach for mating and giving birth for years and years. The council has allowed the seal protection to make the beach conservation exclusively for breeding or pupping season. Banning visitors and dogs from the main beach during this time but now the seals have decided in recent years to call the norfolk beaches a permanent home. I want to campaign to get the beaches turned conservative permanently all year round to protect these animals from dog attacks and only allowing human contact from a safe distance. All along the coast line are beautiful walks with high dunes set high up enough for everyone to see the beautiful animals. Please sign this petition to protect these animals.
