Joni Morrisette scored 36 points in the first round of the 2001 state tournament against #1 seeded Sisseton. The SDPB.org archives have her down for 36 and so did all the newspapers that reported the box score as well as the Red Cloud book. However, a mistake with the official book had her down for 34 points. Joni tied the record of the late SuAnne Big Crow and Carla Allard. In the years that followed, she was never acknowledged in the state tournament record book or SDHSAA yearbook. With enough signatures, we hope to present the case to the SD High School Activities Association for reconsideration as my personal attempt was denied in the past. Joni is a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and played in two state tournaments for Red Cloud Indian School.
