Kamloops Schools stand for a proper graduation ceremony

I believe the class of 2020 deserves a proper graduation ceremony, one we can celebrate as a class. I understand covid-19 Has taken many things away these past months. I do realize the school is trying their hardest to come up with an idea to capture the special moment. But a virtual grad is no where close to special, with only house hold members able to attend. When you graduate you want to do so with your entire class and friends that you may not see ever again. Friends are moving onto their next chapter in life, and deserve a proper goodbye to everyone who helped them grow. We spend 12 years in school making connections with people, so it only makes sense to have a proper goodbye. Being able to throw our grad caps together and take pictures to remember such an important time in our lives. We only graduate once in our lives and it’s unfair that the class of 2020 will be the only year that doesn’t get to experience something we’ve waited our entire lives for. I believe we can come up with better ideas other than a virtual grad which was supposed to be last resort, but we never even discussed other ideas. I know many people agree with me when saying we should post pone it until we are allowed to have a proper ceremony. Or even a social distancing style ceremony outside in a park or field. I’ve seen farmers markets around town and stores filled with people that are following distancing rules. So why not graduation but distancing style? Or even being patient and waiting to have a proper ceremony that the grads deserve for working so hard to get where we are today. I would really appreciate anyone signing this (grads, parents, etc..) who feels virtual grad is not special enough or the best idea we can come up with. The class of 2020 deserves more ideas and effort than what we are getting.
