Blyss Gellert started this petition to SCU students and faculty

As students of SCUHS, we have spent  > $100k in tuition by the end of our degree. We have spent even more money (300-500 per term?) in additional fees for things like graduation ceremonies for us when we finally finish our gruelling degree.

We are passionate about what we are doing and we have managed to take in stride every change that has been thrown our way during the global pandemic. Every cohort has gone through this together from day 1. We have students from all over the country and from all over the world in our cohorts. We enrolled in this program with the understanding that we would get to walk across the stage after all of our exams, clinical hours, board exams and dues are paid in order to receive our doctorate and close this chapter of our life.

SCUHS has decided that our hard work does not deserve or merit this respect and acknowledgement of achievement. All graduating classes will now be combined in one mass ceremony once a year. For the lucky cohorts who’s graduation date coincides with this “new ceremony” - great! You’re so lucky!

For those of us in other cohorts, you may have to wait 4-8 months after you graduate to walk the stage - if you care to come back. Your parents won’t get to see you walk the stage for 4-8 months after you graduate. This is devastating, unfair and an egregious oversight on the part of the administration. At the very least, after all of the adversity we have faced, we deserve to graduate with our class at the end of our program. This is the bare minimum in terms of expectation.

Let’s change this.
