To The Board Members of Sussex Christian School,

This letter is a request to hold an open forum discussing the current Covid-19 Policy at Sussex Christian School and to possibly amend such policy based on member vote of the school association. As a member based private school, we believe we have a right to how our children are governed.

As Christians, we have been called to not be conformed by this world and to stand firm in our beliefs set forth by God. Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world., but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”Continuing to follow a senseless government mandate, when it has been proven over and over again that our children are at NOimminent danger of Covid-19 does not glorify God. Our teachers and staff have been vaccinated and protected if they wish to be, as have students who are eligible. The mental, emotional and spiritual health of our children are at stake. They are undoubtedly being taught that a virus should control us, when no doubt, our God is in control. The “sick until proven healthy” mentality is damaging our children. A government that unlawfully claims jurisdiction over a child’s body that has been bought by the blood of Jesus Christ does not align with our religious beliefs. As Christians we are told to respect government, but not when that requires disobeying God (Ephesians 5:6-15), causing harm to our children’s bodies (1 Corinthians 3:16-17), or violating biblically grounded convictions (Galatians 5:16-24).

We request an open forum be held and a vote by the members of the Sussex Christian School Association for the following:

Masking optional by parental discretion.

Quarantining optional by parental discretion.

Parents who wish to continue to follow all Covid-19 protocols may continue to do so.

We have chosen Private Christian Schooling to “Train up a child in the way he should go,” (Proverbs 22:6) and give our children the tools to transform the world. “The mission of Sussex Christian School is to prepare young people to live fully for God in a rapidly changing world, with the ability to understand, evaluate, and transform their world from the foundation of God’s unchanging Word.”

Are we fulfilling our mission in our rapidly changing world? If we don’t stand up for our children now, then when? At what point do we say enough is enough?

Ephesians 5: 6-11 “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God coms upon the sons of disobedience. Therefor do not become partners with them, for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.”

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.”

Galatians 5:16-24 “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for those are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”
