Why this petition matters

Started by Michelle Johnson

Times are biting hard in the world today and many people in the U.K. are struggling to make ends meet with a single income. People are considering getting a second job or an additional source of income, however,  If a person gets an additional job in the U.K., they pay even more taxes than they have to for their primary jobs, often times, making the additional income meaningless for the stress, hardship and loss of personal time people have to go through to get it.

“Any taxpayer who has alternative revenue streams outside of their main employment is regarded as having both "employed" and "additional" income. Tax must be paid on any additional income; to calculate this, you must register with HMRC for a Unique Tax Reference and complete a self-assessment tax return.” - moneydonut.co.uk.

This is not fair. it is said that the U.K. politicians get paid a lot more than an average citizen and gets their expenses covered by tax payer’s money, thus the question - Are the needs of the people truly being considered by the U.K. Government?

If so, this is one way that the British Government can ensure equity.  I am asking that the British Government scrap the taxes a person has to pay for having an additional income. It is no longer a luxury but a necessity to match the needs of these difficult times.

If the additional income taxes can be scrapped, people could potentially get other jobs and additional incomes which can be substantial, to augment what people earn from their primary jobs, thus helping people to be able to pay their bills, and have somewhat of a good quality of life.

Please sign this petition and share with your friends and family in the U.K. until the British Government discusses this in Parliament.
