Scrap and Investigate the Black Eyed Susan

Scrap and Investigate the Black Eyed Susan
Why this petition matters
The town of Snow Hill, Maryland purchased a paddle boat in 2021 named the Black Eyed Susan for the hefty price of $400,000. Since arriving Snow Hill residents have had major concerns on how the boat will be used and who's in charge. Prior to being purchased the town would have closed door meetings on the plan for the boat. Any time there was an open conversation for the boat it was on a phone call because of covid restrictions. Since it was a teleconference those listening in had little to no say or input.
This year the boat failed the Coast Guard inspection. It was determined that $600,000 of repairs would be needed to get the boat operational again. Since then the boat has been dry docked in Virginia. Again the residents of Snow Hill voiced concerns that were ignored by the town. Snow Hill town council voted to spend $200,000 to get the boat back to Snow Hilll. The town plans to use the boat for events until funds can be found to repair the boat.
The goal is to have the Black Eyed Susan project completely scrapped and a complete investigation needs to be conducted. Tax payers should not be held responsible for this failure.
