An important decision is about to be made about the future traffic flow patterns in the Troon Mountain area.
As part the approval process for a new 80 acre - Toll Brothers residential development at the corner N. 118th St and Jomax Rd., the City of Scottsdale is proposing to extend N. 118th St to Dynamite Rd. to the north. As a homeowner in this area, I believe this is not a good idea for several important reasons:
1. It is not necessary for the homeowners living in the Troon Mt. area.
2. It will create a short cut for traffic going from Rio Vista to Scottsdale. Dynamite is becoming an increasingly busy road and will only continue to increase in the future.
3. This area is surrounded to the east by the existing park property, thus will have limited future growth.
The map here shows why this will happen. Currently, this is a very quiet neighborhood and very popular with bikers and walkers. My proposal is to use the funds which would be spend on the N. 118th St extension and use these to improve the bike lanes and sidewalks around the Troon Mountain loop.
I ask for your important input in this matter. Please express your opinion now by voting your opinion. This voting will be shared with the Scottsdale City Council and the Scottsdale Traffic Engineering Dept.
