Why this petition matters

Started by mel hamilton

The current 10pm limit for buying alcohol in shops is old fashioned and unfair. The working day is no longer 9-5 as people can be working any and all sorts of hours and should be able to buy what they want if shops are willing to stay open later.

We are sick of having to rush to buy a bottle of wine after a late shift, and it's frankly ridiculous to make hard working adults meet an arbitrary time limit for alcohol sales. While the problems of alcohol abuse are being well tackled by the Scottish Government with minimum pricing and other measures, the 10pm cut-off just limits the personal freedom of ordinary citizens.

You can buy alcohol in shops in England and Wales after 10pm, why not in Scotland?
