Save the pews at Inverness Cathedral

Save the pews at Inverness Cathedral
Why this petition matters
Inverness Cathedral is a beautiful historic building in the heart of Inverness.
It is furnished with beautiful wooden congregation pews, choir pews and lovely details adorning the space above the choir stalls. It has a tradition for music and hosts classical concerts which are enhanced by the special setting. The Cathedral is a place of peace in a busy world where quite contemplation can take place. The beautiful stained glass windows are rich in content and vibrancy, and people from all over the world visit to enjoy this special place. It such a privilege to have the cathedral in Inverness for worship, to host weddings and funerals and all the special moments the punctuate our lives.
The integrity and ambiance of this beautiful building is in threat! With no regard for the historical significance and aesthetic of the marvelous interior where the furnishings and architectural structure are in harmony.
There is a plan to remove the lovely wooden pews and replace them with "comfortable" chairs. The pews are going to be sold off at a bargain price and congregation invited to buy a chair!
This action will erode a place of special cultural and historic significance in the Highlands
Please save Inverness Cathedral Pews!
