Why this petition matters

Due to the coronavirus pandemic children and teens will be following a new school timetable indefinitely. In many schools students will only attend a couple of days a week which is why in such dangerous and precarious times many of us see something as trivial as school uniforms an unnecessary and stressful weight.

Here’s Why:

Firstly. The purchasing of Uniforms during the coronavirus pandemic is inconvenient for all and puts the lives of many at risk. Online shopping only takes us so far, with school shopping it is much easier for people to do so in the shop - where they can access a changing room - and as England’s shops have already began opening we can only predict that to occur in the near future here in Scotland. Although only a prediction, it’s inevitable that the school shop will pose a very great risk to many for picking up the coronavirus which threatens the life of Immunocompromised and older people.

Secondly many people already struggle with the buying of school uniforms and as a result of the virus have received less or in the case of  some self-employers no money for the past few months. Which is why despite the government supplying extra money through free school meals it’s still not enough. I and many others share the same view regarding the wish for abolishing school uniforms.

The benefits of school uniforms have always been unproven and most schools around the world do perfectly fine without them.
