REMOVE SCHOOL NAMES FROM EXAM PAPERS

Pupil Attainment - Close the Gap !!

I am sure and hope like many other people across Scotland, the disappoint and quite frankly utter disbelief felt in the early hours of yesterday has yet to subside.

To base a pupil’s exam results on the basis of the geographical location of the school they have attended for that year is quite frankly not only immoral it is downright disgraceful.

To tell a child that the work and effort they have put in for the last year does not mean as much because they do not live in an affluent area or go to a school that ranks high on the ‘table’ is deplorable.

To tell teachers that the extra hard work that they put in over the last few months in an effort to make sure their pupils got the results they deserved does not matter because the ‘table’ can not fall is truly shocking.

I believe it should not be necessary for the SQA assessor to know what school an exam paper has been submitted from ... could it be every year each school is given a code? Who knows ... but there is a solution and it’s an easy one but I know for sure there a lots of methods of identification and the school name does not need to be one of them ... get it removed from exam papers AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!
