Nathan Nate started this petition to Scottish Government

The international hospitality industry has been very hard hit on the back of the outbreak of Covid 19 and will take a lot of time, effort and luck to bounce back.

Here in Scotland, and especially here in Edinburgh without the festival this year, that all central city bars benefit from it is going to be even harder to keep staff on and in a lot of cases keep doors open at all.

Unlike other parts of the U.K. Scotland’s drinking laws have tied publicans hands on their ability to maximise sales from their clientele.

I am asking for your support to show the Scottish government that the industry deserves a fighting chance to get back to what it was.

In order to rebuild and in order to grow business I propose a relaxation on some rules, including but not limited to allowing happy hours, multiple purchase deals and double up deals.

I believe that our ability to be creative with product pricing without the fear of fines will put us back in line with the rest of the U.K. and give us the first building block the industry will need when we reopen.

While I understand why the laws were put in place, I would ask for a minimum of 365 days relaxation with the option of renegotiating depending on how successful it has been and any evidence that it has a negative impact on society.

I believe that the hospitality industry is a vital part of Scottish society and will need the boost from the higher powers if it is to survive.
