Suicide Intervention training for all emergency services.

I am a second year mental health nurse at Glasgow Caledonian university.
I am grateful that this year I will receive my applied suicide intervention skills training more commonly known as ASIST this is something most mental health nurses will receive and it helps us build a greater knowledge and understand how to help someone who may be planning suicide but what about the other professions?
It was a shocking discovery to find out that police officers, paramedics, fire fighters and various other public sector workers do not have the privilege of receiving this training or any other form of suicide intervention training and why is that? They may be the first people a person who is planning to carry out suicide might come into contact with.
I would like people to sign this petition if they believe that all emergency service workers should be entitled to this training.
