The bridge at the bottom of Overlee Park by Moray Gardens in Clarkston has been open for a few weeks after the lock was broken by some teenagers. During this time many local people have enjoyed the option of walking over the bridge, whether with dogs or with family or just enjoying the option to have somewhere new to exercise. SGN replaced the lock, then some young people broke it again. Now SGN has replaced this lock with a stronger chain and lock stopping the local community from accessing the woodland on the other side. From talking with many of the local community they would prefer if there were access to this bridge full time. Aware that the bridge is there for vehicle access it may not be suitable for the large gates to be open so we are suggesting that a potential option would be if a pedestrian gate was added and if the petition raises enough support we will approach SGN to start discussion on this.
