SCOTTISH AUTISM NEED TO CONTINUE CHILD AND YOUNG PERSON SERVICES

Scottish Autism are a major autism charity in Scotland who offer a range of services at a local and national level. A week or so ago they sent out a letter explaining to families that Clannalba a centre of excellent and respite services for children and young people will be closing. They will no longer be delivering a service to under 18s. Lack of bed use was cited but we have heard from many families waiting to hear about a decision for respite or who have been told their local authority do not use Clannalba. This will affect families all over Scotland including my own.
It will have a devastating impact on many lives and make our caring role more difficult. We call on Scottish Autism and those who have any say in the matter to reconsider their decision. Please sign and share this decision and let Scottish Autism and local authorities know what a precious thing respite for under 18s with autism is. Many families are devastated by this news.
The Board is meeting in November. We know this is a harsh financial climate but this is a much needed service. This impacts on families of a child with autism but I am asking you to please stand with all of us who will be affected. Thank you.
