Improve Milwaukee's Foster Care System for African American Children

The institutionalized oppression of black children and families in our community's foster care system. Instead of putting children with their overall fit and willing relatives or giving the family receiving in-home services when removed from their original care for various reasons they are put into foster care and end up with families of different racial backgrounds. Milwaukee is very much culturally divided. But that is a good thing, it is perfectly fine that people like to surround themselves with people similar to them race-wise. With African American children steadily being pressured to fit into white culture in America the children being taken away from their families and placed with families of different backgrounds causes them to be even more lost. As the children grow up throughout life like many other black children who aren’t in foster care they question their place in society. With a black child not growing up in a black environment and not having the correct role models they are more vulnerable to stereotypes in the media affecting their behavior or risk being an outcast in the black community along with being blindfolded to the real world and what’s really going on with their people in the community.
