Help Clean the Yahara Watershed

This petition had 42 supporters

The lakes around Madison, WI are full of blue-green algae blooms due to excessive phosphorus, mainly due to fertilizers and livestock waste. These algae blooms are capable of producing toxins that can be harmful to humans and the ecosystem and deplete the amount of oxygen available for aquatic life.

Consumption of large amounts of these toxins by animals or humans can result in skin irritation, rashes, muscle cramps, twitching, paralysis, cardiac or respiratory difficulty, nausea, vomiting and liver failure.

The Wisconsin Watershed Warriors would like you to sign this petition to help keep the water around Madison clean by reducing the amount of pesticides being released by farmers.

Your signature means a lot to us and will help us raise awareness of this issue and will better equip us when later sending letters to government officials.
