Recognize Sa'Derian Perry as an All-American Wrestler on EMU's Dean Rockwell monument

Sa'Derian Perry, an EMU wrestler in the 2017-2018 season, earned All-American status after finishing in eighth place at 141 lbs. at the 2018 NCAA Championships. His efforts have not been recognized by Eastern Michigan University in a manner consistent with past athletic achievements. Sa'Derian was the first All-American from EMU since 1999 and helped usher in a new era of team-wide achievement culminated by his coach Dave Bolyard being named MAC coach of the year. Days after Sa'Derian's achievement, Eastern Michigan University, led by Athletic Director and Vice President Scott R. Wetherbee and President James M. Smith eliminated the wrestling program along with three other sports. 83 athletes including Sa'Derian were cut from EMU athletics without notice. Eight months later, EMU has still yet to recognize Sa'Derian's achievement by simply adding his plaque to the "Dean Rockwell Monument" on campus which lists every other All-American the wrestling program has produced. This discrepancy is unacceptable and disrespects Sa'Derian as well as the war hero whose rock-shaped monument bears his name, Dean Rockwell. We ask that Sa'Derian be honored with a plaque and an announcement like every other All-American athlete EMU's wrestling program created.
