THE JOSHUA TREE PETITION symbolizes the strength and beauty that can arise from dysfunction. Named in honour of Joshua Park-Fing, 18, who was killed while attending a Work for the Dole program.

The petition focuses on connecting the Australian people to call on the Morrison Government to address violence, inequality and discrimination of Newstart recipients and other unpaid workers in Australian Workplaces.

 1. Immediately ratify and implement the New ILO Convention 190
 2. Review the Fair Work Act 2009 to protect all Australians workers, paid/unpaid

The groundbreaking convention, voted for by The Australian Government, sets international standards addressing violence and harassment of working people at work, whilst naming and protecting JobSeekers, along with other unpaid workers, who currently have no legal protections under the Fair Work Act 2009.

Like Joshua, hundreds of thousands of JobSeekers are required by Centrelink’s Mandatory Obligation Requirements (MOR), to attend government employment programs at Australian workplaces, to receive Centrelink's Newstart, the government's income support for the unemployed.

Iain Park, Joshua's father, will be seeking an interview with Brisbane bound touring band and global social justice advocates U2, to seek support for the petition
