As it currently stands Australia has no free speech laws to protect it citizens right to free expression of ideas, while we do have an implied freedom of expression there is nothing protecting us from our language being policed similar to the current situation in places like England Ireland and Europe were police are investigating online "hate speech".

My goal is to have the Australian government recognise the issue and all im asking them to do is to put into our nations law that Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (which states everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers) shall not be infringed or taken away.

It is my fear that in the growing climate of political correctness that we may be headed down a path we cant turn back from while a lot of social and political issues have been brought to light by the current climate we may over reach and extend past the good into the oppressive to the point we are telling people what they can and cant say due to the fear of fines or imprisonment.
