As most of you are aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has begun to affect the world on a global scale. After Scott Morrison's first declaration of restrictions, I took it upon myself to record the statistics regarding the COVID-19. The statistics below that were found were in relation to https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html

The following were calculated at 11:30 on the 19/03/2020:

Over a period of 48 hours, over 27,781 cases were detected globally, which works out to be a percentage of a 0.16% increase.

An increase of 1392 deaths on a global scale.

It was announced at 6:00 am on the 17th of March that there are 379 cases and 52 of these cases are contacts of previously confirmed cases. As a fraction, this number may not seem that large but will continue to grow exponentially if appropriate social restrictions are not co-ordinated effectively.

Gathering that are currently larger than 100 individuals are banned and fined, students are still mingling during lunch breaks at schools as well as individuals creating unnecessary contact cafes and restaurants. I believe that the safest course of action is quarantining individuals and preventing the spread by minimising the amount of contact that is created.

Please sign this petition if you believe schools should be locked down for two weeks to minimise the transmission of COVID-19 via contact.
