I work for touring musicians and I'm looking at another 12 months without work, but this time also without jobkeeper. This is also the case for countless friends from my industry.

The East Kimberley is still running at under 20% of normal capacity. May to August is our traditional peak season with many businesses not opening for the 2020 season and those who are open suffering massive losses of revenue & employees and as a result we are now also accruing unsustainable debt. We have lost many of our long term employees who were eligible for Job Keeper but either came from interstate or have given up on the tourism industry with so much uncertainty ahead. We are now having to engage new employees which the business can not afford given the downturn. There is little viability to employ new recruits at the end of a decimated tourist season leading into the traditional off season. It is likely that we will also be forced to close our year round operation until there is further clarity around when WA state borders will re-open and there are changes to the Job Keeper scheme to include all base employees!

Job keeper is the only way a business such as ours that has lost 90% of income to retain our senior staff. They will be so hard to replace. Please act on this in the east Kimberley as the whole region has been affected far more than any other WA area.

Tourism needs support without our travel agents we will not have the experience to book the best holiday we can get plus having peace of mind there are only a phone call away if something goes wrong

My job relies on visitors to all states in Australia & if flights are grounded, tourists are unable to come. Look after tourism staff who are a huge part of the economy in Australia.
