Shokry Alemam started this petition to Scott Morrison (Federal Member for Cook) and

To the honorable directors

We (International medical graduate doctors, IMGs) are all aware of the efforts of AHPRA and AMC to make it easier for medical professionals in regards of registration to support the health system in facing the current challenges with evolution of COVID 19.

We are on behalf of OTD either working as GPs or at hospital positions on  limited registration would appreciate considering our request.

In view of the cancelation of Amc clinical examination and postponed RACGP fellowship exams, added to that the current situation of increasing demand for registered medical professionals , we really feel restricted of helping the community in the best of our capacity . Once We are working in a specific position on limited registration , it restricts us from working in any other place or taking extra duties  even in emergency situations. Consequently , we can’t help in different positions in local hospitals with a lot of time and steps to be taken for change of circumstances .Many of us are either  permanent residents or citizens and we have been struggling for our career stability in Australia . Also many of us are working in Australia on working visa and they feel unstable regarding their career and community support for them and their families which impact them to feel as a real part of the community they decided to settle in with their families.

We need more resilience   regarding the conditions of our registration for more flexibility.

Our hope is that you consider allowing us as an experienced OTD with local Australian health experience to apply for general registration based on the accredited experience and work performance reports from our supervisors or whatever you think is best as we are now already practicing safely in the Australian health system as a front-line health care workers.

We really want to be able to help.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Kind Regards
