Meg Peddada started this petition to Scott Morrison (Federal Member for Cook) and

Help Spouse/Partner/Family Get Back Together!

We are calling on Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Senators, MP's, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Home Affairs to humanely consider providing exemption for spouses and Partners to reunite with each other.

As per Australian home affairs, it is stated that spouses and partners of Australia Permanent Visa holders or citizens can apply for exemption to be with each other.

For example, a partner visa is considered under different criteria to an immediate family member of an Australian citizen and has less weightage. A family is a group of people who are related to each other, especially parents and their children.

Inward exemptions are being considered for the immediate family member of a non-citizen with critical skills in Australia, where the person in Australia holds a temporary or provisional visa. However, there are numerous exemptions that have been rejected even for the Temporary resident skilled worker, permanent resident, and citizen’s families who are stuck outside Australia. One such case is my spouse. We had attempted for an exemption to travel with all supporting evidences more than 15 times till now and the rejection reason stated was that it is not meeting the criteria. No further explanation.

There are numerous families like us who are apart even though we are contributing temporary residents of Australia. This is not only affecting us mentally but also the hardship in the family separation where 100% of the family lives in Australia, separating spouse/mother/children out is not fair. There is also an Immigration cyclic issue where a bridging visa cannot be reapplied while you are outside of Australia, even though it expired due to no fault of our own. Bridging visas are getting expired while they are outside due to pandemic border closure of Australia.

Please kindly help sign this petition and share wide. We need some action in this challenging Covid period to have families together and support each other. Please help our families get united.
