Single-use plastic is filling our waterways, city parks and bush landscapes. Australia is a country that is being overrun by plastic pollution. By 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean and that's devastating. Banning single-use plastic in South Australia could encourage other states to follow their lead. Scott Morrison could start with some smaller bans like banning plastic bags or straws but in near future he should work his way up and fully ban single-use plastic. In 2015, a group of British and Australian scientists conducted a study and came to the conclusion that 52% of turtles and 90% of sea birds had consumed plastic debris. Over 1 million marine animals die in a year because they either consumed plastic because they thought that it was food or got tangled in a piece of plastic and drowned. Currently it is estimated that there is 100 million tons of plastic in the ocean worldwide. The best solution to this problem would to not have plastic in world. Please sign this petition to make sure that single-use plastic can be banned in South Australia.
