rebekah howell started this petition to Scott Morrison (Federal Member for Cook) and

There has been a alot of talk around labor and birth in Australian hospitals. Stories of women giving birth without the father of there child or a support person they know being present due to Covid-19.

We are asking Scott Morrison and Greg Hunt to please consider the rights of mothers to have the father of their child or support person present during the birth of their child without a time limit.

Fathers and support deserve the right to see their child being born and witness the first steps im that childs life such as the first feed, first bath etc. Mothers have the right to give birth with a support person who they know and love.

Labor and Birth should be something magical to share with the ones closest to you, its already traumatic in itself but to go it alone will put women at risk of choosing other options that could put their lives at risk birthing outside of hospitals.

Were not asking for a lot just for a guarantee that we will be able to hold on to the basic human right to allow one single support person (partner or friend/family) to be allowed to sit beside us holding our hand as we bring a new life in to this world.

No woman should be in fear of giving birth to her child alone.
