Problem
Elmhurst residents who live in the north side of the city, living east of IL Route 83 currently have no safe access to the west side of the roadway, where DuPage County Cricket Creek, and the Salt Creek Greenway Trail (SCGT) exist. The closest possibility to access the west side by walking or biking is at the intersection of IL Route 83 and North Avenue.

Solution
An overpass would provide a safe and scenic route of travel for residents going to the SCGT, to several Elmhurst community parks, local businesses, and the opportunity to explore an additional 122 miles of trails that expand into 5 counties. The first step requires funding a Phase 1 engineering study before Federal grant money becomes available. We need your support to convince the City of Elmhurst, The DuPage County Forest Preserve, Elmhurst Park District, and local businesses that this is a project worth funding.

Personal story
We are long time Elmhurst residents and have raised our children here. We both enjoy walking and cycling not only as a leisure, healthy activity, but also as a means of alternative transportation. We see the need for a safe pedestrian/biking infrastructure that will enhance the quality of life to our community and surrounding communities.
