I love the place, value its history and character. Phil Knight is an arrogant billionaire with no respect.

Have Hayward Field also be world famous by innovating a design that preserves some of its historic, iconic sections like the East Grandstand and therefore it's Hayward Magic. Surely there's an Oregon architecture student or company that can pull this off! What a great example we could be to other organizations in the country who also want to incorporate their fond community memories of a magical place into the creation of a new, more accommodating, modern space.

Historic Hayward Field represents the people who have worked to make UO's athletic program the powerhouse it is today. Destroying history is dangerous, because we will forget where we have come from.

History and tradition. It's magic to see where legends have run. It's like it has a soul. I get tired of our disposable culture.

I believe that there can be a compromise between keeping a piece of the tradition of Hayward Field and the new design. I am all for improving the facility for the World Championships but in today's culture why must that always be about discarding the very things that have endeared people to our University and our athletic programs?

The stands are more than still viable and a piece of living history. They can def be worked around to create the venue necessary for the wc.
