Problem
Dear Natalie Reiter
Director Planning and Development

Have you really thought this through??

Moonee Valley Council have or are in the process of placing paid parking spots along the Boulevard and in particular from the intersection of Holmes Road along the boulevard to the Orford Street intersection.
This decision if implemented, would have significant implications for our local Football, Cricket, Soccer and athletics Competition.
The local football Club (Maribyrnong Park FC) operate between the months of march & September and during the season have training on five nights a week and games played on most Saturdays and every Sunday. On any given Saturday the club would have up to 1000/2000 people coming to the Park to play or support the senior Clubs activities. On a Sunday the numbers you would also have, would be up around 2000 people coming in and out of the area to participate or support the individual Clubs playing junior football.
The also have countless volunteers from the local community Spend all day at this venue and need to park all day to carry out the club’s needs. On top of this, supporters are not going to visit these community activities if they are not able to park due to time restraints and or parking fees.
Visiting clubs have members travelling to Maribyrnong Park from as far away as Sunbury, Craigieburn and Greenvale that all need to commute via cars and will be hit with these parking fees on arrival.
It is difficult enough in raising the finances to support these community activities without council placing further difficulties and, in all probability, reducing the number of people supporting the community sporting activities all year round.
This decision needs to be reviewed and opposed in our view as it has the potential to seriously affect the ability of the clubs to attract and maintain members and support base, due to the problems this decision will create.
Furthermore, We have not been advised of this and or given any opportunity to make a submission as to the effect this proposal would have on our Sporting Community.
AGAIN…. Natalie Reiter, have you really thought this through??
