Each year, over 100 million animals are killed from animal testing. The animals include: mice, rats, dogs, frogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish and birds.

Some of these are, of course, very exotic (such as monkeys) and are rarely used but the fact that people would even consider using them is preposterous! It is inconsiderate, that we would willingly take exotic animals out of their habitats as if they belonged to us!

You might think that though with the 3R's (replacing, reducing and refining) the number of experimental animals would already be small or reduced but that is a lie. Even with the 3R’s the numbers are very high.

Our objective of this petition is to minimize these numbers of experimental animals.

Life is as important to an animal as it is to a human. An animal’s desire to live is as much a part of its DNA than a man’s. Even while knowing all this, scientists experiment on animals. They are put into cages their whole life, tested on causing horrible pain and suffering. These experiments are mostly used for non-important reasons such as testing cosmetics, curiosity-driven experiments and even chemical, drug and food testing. For example, cosmetics, the animals go through skin and eye irritation tests where chemicals are rubbed onto the shaved skin or dripped into the eyes of restrained rabbits, WITHOUT any pain relief. All those products that you are buying are causing millions of animals to die and suffer. To be clear, we are not saying to completely stop animal testing but it should only be done for important cases such as vaccines and other important medical items/substances. There is a very famous shop called  “The Body Shop”, some of you have probably heard of it and you should know that all of their products are animal-cruelty free! They do not sell any products at all that have been tested on animals or made them suffer. It was founded in 1976 and became very popular. Meaning that there are many other possibilities on how to make products WITHOUT animal suffering.

We need to reduce the amount of experimental animals because of the horrible pain and suffering of animals. Scientists are the people who can make a bigger impact on this but you can also help, by buying your cosmetic items where on the box, there is a certified cruelty-free bunny logo.

If we can make our goal happen, more animals will be able to live a free/normal and happy life. But if we do not succeed, millions of animals will continue to be tormented and hurt throughout their whole life.
