What part of Stockton & Darlington railway doesn’t this museum understand probably been run by people from down in the South . Shildon is a branch line further North from Darlington ,Locomotion 1 is a Darlington icon like the Transporter Bridge is to Middlesbrough give your heads a shake and use common sense if that is possible and keep it in Darlington.

I'm a railway buff even without any associations to Darlington considered. Locomotion No.1. is along with The Skerne Bridge, Darlington's most important assets. The townspeople are rightly proud of their icon that sits up there in the nationally significant locomotives. It would be a travesty to move anywhere else, even Shildon. Why has it taken Darlington's officials so long to acknowledge, let alone celebrate this?
I have live in North Carolina USA now for 30 years but have a model of Locomotion No. 1 on my mantle piece. How better to represent my home town!

I think it’s disgraceful they should even THINK about not returning No1 Loco to its rightful place in Darlington! It belongs to Darlington and it’s people and should be returned for all times for Historical significants to the town!!!...

The entrepreneurial spirit of the founders of Railways should be recognised, celebrated and demonstrated by the retention and display of this historic loco in its home.

No. 1 Action Group (N1AG) on FB has been working tirelessly since 30th December 2020 to publicise the situation to railfans around the world and support is flooding in. Railfans in the USA (coast to coast), Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Belgium, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Greece, Switzerland, Ukraine, Russia, Japan, Romania, Turkey, Bangladesh, Spain, Scandinavia are now fully aware and involved with us and as I write this we will also be moving into even more countries. We have acquired 145 members from around the world and estimate we have added about 300 signatures to the petition in just over a fortnight and are preparing a huge campaign of awareness and empowerment that will support Darlington Borough Council in every respect and more. We will leave no stone unturned in our quest to ensure Locomotion Number One stays where the Pease family intended it to stay for the rest of its days - Darlington. NRM Shildon have underestimated what No. 1 means to Darlington and to true railfans everywhere. We are focussing the eyes of the world on Darlington.

I firmly believe this loco should stay where it is, the NRM does not need it.

I spent my early childhood in Darlington and my dad was also part of its history being the first railway chaplain who then went on to help found the Luton Industrial College. A staunch trade unionist and ex Bevan boy from South Wales, he spent more time fighting railway closures than he did in church. I have masses of documents relating to Darlington North Rd Works.

I’m signing this to keep a piece of history in it’s local area.
