SCHS Graduation Back On Our Home Turf

SCHS Graduation Back On Our Home Turf
Why this petition matters
As a student at Sevier County High School, my goal has always been to bring graduation back to our home turf. My grandfather, Gary Roach, was the last principal to carry on this tradition, and wanted his students to graduate at Sevier County High School’s beautiful stadium. (Besides the two times it was held at the stadium only due to COVID protocols). Mr. Roach once said “As long as I am principal my students will never graduate anywhere else. Rain or Shine!”. Like me, he saw the importance it was for his students to be able to flip their tassels on their home turf. I, along with my fellow class, would love to be able to graduate at our beautiful stadium, instead of at a meaningless convention center where our families struggle to even see the graduates. Aside from the fact that it cost our school thousands of dollars to have it at a convention center, rather than having it at our own stadium that would have very little cost. I wish this change could be made this year for the graduating class of 2023, but I realize for this change to be made then it needs to be discussed presently before it’s to late for the class of 2024 as well. My fellow class and I would appreciate as much support as we can get to make this happen! Please sign this petition if you see the importance in receiving our diplomas on our home turf as much as we do!
