Fin White started this petition to Schools

The goal- Take away the boys school uniform and girls school uniform and create a school uniform for all despite assigned gender.

Our society is forever changing for the better, with acceptance for those in minority groups rapidly growing. This has led me to wonder  why the contact book has separated pages for a boy and girl? These pages underline the way in which pupils of said gender are expected to present themselves and I myself believe strongly in a uniformed school as it ensures most students know how to look presentable in a working environment. However, students who identify as non-binary, the rejection of gender stereotypes, don’t have a page inclusive of them causing confusion on how they are expected to look.

For instance as a male if I was planning on attending school wearing make-up I would not know the guidelines surrounding this as it is not specified on the boys uniform page. Furthermore, items such as skirts and heeled-shoes are only mentioned on the girls page implying these items of clothing are acceptable for a female student only. Unfortunately this could cause future LGBTQ+ students in schools to feel a sense of unintended suppression which can lead to further issues, which I feel can be easily resolved.

Of course, to every problem presented there is a solution! In fact during the past year we have experienced drastic changes to ensure safety worldwide, therefore I strongly believe making a minor change to the contact book will cause significant impact regarding diversity and acceptance as the school environment plays a vital role in exposing students to diverse backgrounds because this is the period of time in which people discover who they are.  We need to take away the separation and unite the two pages forming a more open section in which every single student can feel comfort in, knowing that despite their assigned gender they are allowed to wear trousers or skirts and not be defined by their gender.

By signing this petition you will be helping to ensure each and every student develops a wide range of understanding about every walk of life in order to promote acceptance and further achieve peace.
